Most of us at some point have attended a concert and way over paid for the hotel within walking distance. For instance Bon Jovi is going to Fargo in March. Now everyone and their mother is looking for a good Fargodome hotel. One that is within walking distance and right next to some watering holes. The best time you can possible book a room and save some good money is to book the first minute info becomes available. Chances are not all hotels in a given area are going to get the memo that a band is coming to town for a few hours or days.
When that info gets around that a big show is coming all of the rates go up that weekend because hotels know that every room will be filled and they can. If you know that info before them you are in a good position to book a room for the standard rate. Planning in advanced which show you want to attend and being on the hunt for new concert dates can save you some good money. Now you can splurge on the $6 beers knowing you saved on the room. Cheers!
